Health & Nutrition
The health and well-being of our puppies is our top priority. Every puppy leaves our care fully vetted, vaccinated, and backed by a written health guarantee.
2-Year Health Guarantee
A dog typically reaches full physical maturity between 12 and 24 months of age. Most genetic health concerns become apparent within this window, which is exactly why our guarantee covers the first two years of your puppy’s life.
Every puppy we place comes with a written 2-year health guarantee covering genetic and congenital conditions that may affect your dog’s health and quality of life.
What the Guarantee Covers
This guarantee gives you peace of mind knowing your puppy is protected from unexpected genetic health concerns during their most critical early years.

Our Commitment to Healthy Puppies
We do not cut corners on any part of the health protocol. These are the standards every puppy we raise is held to, without exception.
Health Testing & Genetic Screening
The health of your puppy starts with the health of its parents. Every adult dog in our program is screened before being bred.
All breeding adults are OFA health tested for hips, elbows, and heart. Testing is completed after two years of age to ensure accurate, mature evaluations.
Both parents in every litter carry current CAER eye certifications confirming normal eye evaluations. This significantly reduces the risk of hereditary eye conditions in offspring.
We test our dogs for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRCD), and von Willebrand Disease (VWD) to ensure we are not producing affected puppies.
American Kennel Club
All of our adult breeding dogs are AKC registered. Every puppy we place is eligible for full AKC registration, and the paperwork is included with your puppy at pickup.
Founded in 1884, the AKC is the recognized and trusted expert in breed, health, and training information for dogs. AKC registration is a mark of a responsibly bred, pedigreed puppy.
NuVet Plus
We highly recommend NuVet Plus supplements for your puppy. They are specifically formulated to help the immune system of a puppy or adult dog stay at its peak performance during the critical first years of development.
We will share more details on where to order and how to use them when your puppy goes home. If you have questions before then, feel free to ask us directly.
Nutrition & Dog Food
We feed our puppies a high-quality dry kibble formulated for small-to-medium breed puppies. Your starter kit will include a sample of exactly what your puppy has been eating. Follow these guidelines to keep your dog healthy and at the right weight for life.
Do This
- ✓Feed a high-quality dry kibble formulated for small-to-medium breed puppies
- ✓Follow manufacturer directions for age and weight — do not guess portions
- ✓Feed three times daily at 8 weeks; transition to twice daily around 6 months
- ✓Include a small sample of the food your puppy has been eating in the starter kit
- ✓Transition to new food gradually over 7 to 10 days to avoid digestive upset
- ✓Occasional treats: scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, or raw beef bones from a butcher
Avoid This
- —Do not overfeed — overfeeding is the leading cause of joint problems and obesity in dogs
- —Avoid foods containing corn, soy, or wheat as primary ingredients
- —No chicken or turkey bones — they splinter and can cause internal injury
- —Limit human food and table scraps — they disrupt balanced nutrition
- —Do not switch foods abruptly — stomach upset and refusal to eat can follow
Do not overfeed. Overfeeding is the greatest cause of joint problems, obesity, and reduced lifespan in dogs. Follow the manufacturer’s feeding guide for your dog’s age and weight, and keep them physically active with daily exercise.
